Self-doubt wasn’t something that suddenly appeared later in my life; I was unknowingly rehearsing it in moments like this. Looking back, the problem wasn't that others couldn't see something in me—I could not see it in myself.

At that age, it just felt natural to speak up for what felt right. But when I look back now, I sometimes wonder what happened to that little girl who trusted herself so easily without allowing a tinge of self-doubt to even meander nearby.
